Schedule of Events

The committee has been meeting biweekly for several months. our initial presentation will be at the Town Meeting, March 10, 2001. Our schedule of activities are as follows:

March 10th - Town Meeting, costume show and over-view of celebration activities --- Photo Gallery
March 24th - Maple Syrup Demo at Mel & Polly Johnson's farm. --- Photo Gallery
April 14th - Quilt Show & Craft Demonstration at Garland Baptist Church and Grange Hall --- Photo Gallery
May 1st - May Pole activities at Garland School --- Photo Gallery
May 20th - Kite Flying Contest 11:30 AM at the Town Field --- Photo Gallery
June 3rd - Special Church Service & Dinner at Garland Community Baptist Church --- Photo Gallery
June 17th - Father's Day Fishing Derby at Garland Pond
July 8th - Strawberry Festival 1:00 PM at G.A.R. Hall sponsored by the Garland Historical Society
August 18th & 19th - Oliver Hill & Garland School Reunion with open house featuring Art & Literature from Garland at the G.A.R. Hall
September 7, 8, 9th - Garland Days - Garland Settlers' Theme
September 22nd - Lyndon Oak Birthday Party at Lyndon Oak Memorial Library
September 12th & 26th - History of Garland - The first 20 years at the G.A.R. Hall
October 6th & 7th
    - 200th Anniversary Celebration. Our theme will feature apples.
    - Horse Wagon Rides 10AM to 3PM
    - Car Tour of Garland's Historical Places
    - Grange Dinner 5PM - 7PM
    - Contra Dance 7PM - 10PM at Garland Grange Hall
October 7th
    - Celebration Church Service at Garland Community Baptist Church 10:30 AM
    - Luncheon at Garland Grange 12 Noon
    - Special Music
    - Celebration Address - Education Theme As a committee we are sponsoring a special green window light in rememberance of the early settlkers and a town quilt representing each family in Garland for the year 2001. In coordination with our celebration the Garland Historical Society has reprinted the "History of Garland" by Lyndon Oak at a price of $10.00. We have made some special banners for our town and we have invited many public officials to our Celebration Sunday uncluding Gov. Angus King.
